By visiting the official Fetch website, you can receive a free quote tailored to your pet based on age, breed, and location. However, as with every pet insurance plan, there are limitations to keep in mind before signing up.

Processing a claim with Fetch is quick and easy. All you have to do is take a photo of your vet documents and answer a few questions about treatments. Then the company takes care of the rest. But will Fetch provide the best option for you and your furry friend? Discover what real customers have to say about Fetch pet insurance in this review.

Policies

With Fetch pet insurance, you get one simple, comprehensive policy that covers:

Prescription medications & supplements, allergies, emergency vet visits, virtual, in-home & office visits, hospital stays, physical therapy, surgeries, X-rays & CT scans, ultrasounds, blood tests, breed-specific issues, including hip dysplasia, specialists, sick-visit exam fees, laboratory tests, vomiting & diarrhea, hereditary & congenital issues, swallowed objects & toxins, every tooth covered, gum disease, diabetes & insulin, cancer treatment, acupuncture & chiropractic care, and treatment for aggression & separation anxiety.

All policies will take effect at 12.01 am the day after activation with a 15-day waiting period, meaning that any claims made during this time will not be covered.

Additionally, hips and knee injuries must wait six months to be covered. However, having your pet examined by a vet within 30 days of purchasing your policy may waive the waiting period for knee injuries.

Limitations

As with all pet insurance companies, Fetch comes with some limitations.

Here’s what is not covered with Fetch pet insurance:

Routine visits and preventive

Fetch doesn’t cover annual visits, vaccinations, or wellness treatments. Nor do they cover preventive care like spaying/neutering, dental cleaning, and flea and heartworm medications. However, you can purchase wellness coverage as an optional add-on for an additional fee.

Pre-existing conditions

Like other providers, Fetch doesn’t cover pre-existing conditions. To ensure your pet gets covered, make sure to provide a baseline exam to establish your pet’s health and to cover future conditions.

Claims filed more than 90 days after treatment

‍‍All claims must be submitted within 90 days of the invoice date; anything after this period will not be covered.

Prescription food

Supplements recommended by your vet as a treatment for an underlying condition are covered by Fetch, but prescription foods are not.

Grooming and cosmetic procedures

The cost of grooming or cosmetic surgery, such as declawing, ear trimming, or tail docking, is not included with Fetch.

Before choosing the right pet insurance for you and your furry friend, be sure that you are aware of the full policy limitations to clarify what’s covered and what’s not.

Cost

Vet bills are affordable thanks to the efforts of Fetch.

On average, Fetch's pet insurance costs $35/per month for dogs and $25/per month for cats. However, this varies for each person and policy. There are three factors that determine the price of your pet: age, breed, and location. Keep in mind that Fetch may automatically increase your premium after your annual renewal which can get costly.

The Fetch website offers a free quote that is customized to your needs. Upon submitting your pet's details, you'll receive a quote in which you can customize your deductible, your max payout, and your reimbursement rate to suit your budget. Your premium billing can be tracked via the Fetch app once your account has been created and your policy is live.

Sample coverage for a 3-year old dog:

$95.79 per month

$5,000 Max annual payout

$300 Annual deductible

80% Reimbursement

Most Commonly Asked Questions About Pet Insurance Plans
Before getting started with a pet insurance plan make sure to familiarize yourself with how pet insurance works and what plan is best for your furry friend. To help you get started, we've compiled a list of some of the most commonly asked questions about pet insurance to help make sure your dog or cat is fully covered and protected.
What is Pet Insurance?
Whether you have a cat or a dog, your pet will more than likely need to see a vet at some point. Seeing a vet is not cheap, and vet bills can add up, sometimes costing you thousands of dollars a year. Rather than paying for medical expenses out of pocket, signing up for a pet insurance plan will help cover the costs of future routine and emergency veterinary bills.
How Does Pet Insurance Work?
Pet insurance works a lot like human health insurance in that plans include payment features like deductibles, co-pays, maximum coverage, premiums, waiting periods, and no coverage for pre-existing conditions.

Deductible: Customers pay a small amount before the insurance company covers the remaining costs of the vet bills. Per-incident deductibles incur for each new expense. An annual deductible refers to money the customer must pay each year.

Co-pay: Co-pay is the percentage customers pay after the deductible. Then the insurer will pay the remaining amount. For example, if your co-pay is 10%, the insurer will cover 90% of the bill.

Maximum coverage: Insurers will limit the amount covered. After that, the pet owner will need to pay the rest. Some insurers have the option of unlimited coverage.

Premium: The amount of money the customer pays monthly for pet insurance. Waiting period: The amount of time before your coverage starts. Sometimes pet insurance providers will not cover an illness or injury if it occurs during the waiting period.

Pre-existing conditions: Pet insurance providers do not cover pre-existing. This refers to a health condition that exists prior to the insurance coverage.
What does Pet Insurance Cover?
Each pet insurance provider has its own customized insurance policies. The extent of the coverage will depend on the provider and plan that you choose.

When choosing a plan, consider whether you want the following types of coverage depending on the needs of your pet:
  • Preventative/wellness care
    • Hereditary conditions
      • Dental care
        • Unexpected illness and injuries
          • Diagnostic tests
            • Surgeries Hospitalizations
              • Medication Supplements or prescription food

If your pet is at greater risk for certain medical treatments due to its breed or age, you might want to consider choosing a provider and plan that covers breed-specific and genetic conditions. However, it is important to note that most providers do not provide coverage for pre-existing conditions.
Can Pet Insurance Save You Money?
Medical bills, even for pets, can end up costing a lot of money. Paying out of pocket could cost you thousands of dollars and lead to debt. If you own a pet, paying a little now can save you a lot later on.

With our list of the top pet insurance companies, you can shop around for the best option for your pet to ensure you get a good deal for quality coverage.
